Kenyan chef, Maliha Mohammed, has surpassed Hilda Baci’s record for the Guinness Worlds Record longest cooking hours.
Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, was officially announced as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon after surpassing Indian Chef, Lata Tondon earlier this year.
Back in June, the 26-year-old had achieved the longest cooking marathon with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Chef Mohammed who began her cook-a-thon on August 11 has unofficially set a new record after cooking for 95 hours as the Guinness World Record is yet to confirm the Kenyan chef’s new cooking record.
In a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Maliha announced her feat with a special flyer boldly stating, “NEW WORLD RECORD”.
Maliha initially set out to replace American Rickey Lumpkin of California, who cooked for 68 hours, 30 minutes, and 1 second in December 2018.
As of Monday, August 14th, Maliha Mohammed had already surpassed Lumpkin’s record while also setting new a Guinness World Record for the longest home kitchen cooking marathon.
This isn’t the first instance where Maliha Mohammed has seized headlines for her culinary marathons.
In 2019, she earned her place in the Guinness Book of World Records by cooking non-stop for an astonishing 75 hours.
